Just doesn’t make any sense…

Didn’t feel like cooking yesterday so we decided to get pizza. Pizza, as my profile states is the (a?) food of the Gods. Looking at the Pizza Hut web site we thought we’d try their new Pizza Mia pizzas. After checking their prices I went with the three pizzas for $5 each deal. An extra pizza in the fridge is always a good thing. Right? They were good. Not quite as good as their regular line of pizza but far superior to the garbage Domino’s tries to pass off as edible. I’d order them again. I’d tell my friends they would enjoy them (you’d enjoy them, friends!). You also can’t beat that price. Then last night I started thinking about it…

With a coupon you can get two regular, one topping, pizzas for $14.99. That works out to around $7.49 each (plus tax and delivery).

Every day, no coupon required, you can get three Pizza Mia pizzas for $15.00. That’s $5.00 each. Plus, of course, tax and delivery.

One penny being the difference between two and three pizzas. How does that make sense? There really wasn’t THAT much of a taste difference between the two lines of pizza. The Mia line does cut their mozzarella with ‘a hint of cheddar’ but is that enough of a savings to make a third pizza only .01? This is just weird…

I’ve never seen one with these colors before. Isn’t that stunning?

R.I.P. Joe Ferrante

Joe Ferrante was the tile contractor on the TV show This Old House for the last 20 years. Although I never met the man personally he’s come into my home almost every week for as long as I can remember and as far as I’m concerned been a part of our family. This is a bit after the fact, Joe died on Friday, November 9th but this weekend was the first I heard of it. My sympathies to his friends, fans and family. The world’s a bit darker for his loss.

Picture Day Three!

It’s picture day! It’s picture day!

Here’s some stuff I took around Christmas time:

Click the above images for larger view.

A little explanation on the last two:
The first image is a detail crop of our water barometer with the water literally dripping out of the spout. We’ve never seen the water this high, not even during the two hurricanes of 2004! The 2nd picture… my friend’s cat, Toby, whom I adopted and gave to her as a Christmas present years ago, shows just how he feels about having his picture taken.

I’ve got the original, larger, images if anyone wants one of the above for a desktop wallpaper.

Enjoy!
