You’ve got a fairly nice house, around 1700 - 2200 square feet. You’ve got at least a ΒΌ acre backyard and there’s a fairly good chance that some portion of it is screened in and/or has some shade trees. You… hang out in cheap lawn furniture (or forego the stuff and stand around) in your driveway.
Are they junior exhibitionists? “I like to be watched… sitting in a plastic chair… in the broiling sun…next year I’ll try it naked…”
I don’t get it! I LIKE the privacy, limited though it is living on a corner lot as we do. Why are all these people hanging in their driveways?!

Some may know and some may Knot Yeti (ha!) know… I moderate the Artist and Contest forums on the web board for the popular web based game The Kingdom of Loathing. Recently one of my fellow forumites held a trivia contest and I won the bonus prize!
Woo, go me!

I have the coolest friends. The mail-lady brought me a box today and inside it I found… petrified poo! Or, as those who aren’t giddy about getting petripoop in the mail call it, coprolite.

Thanks John, you made my day!

I was listening to the TV in the other room a few days ago. Drew Barrymore was on Oprah with the following sob story…
“[some name] this selfless mother of NINE often goes without food when there’s not enough to feed her family…”
My brain melted….
Selfless?! Was it that NINTH child that stretched the gruel too far? Was she happily able to feed EIGHT children? Of course she wasn’t! She was probably struggling to feed ONE child, then two, then three and so on and so forth. So WHY is this ’selfless’ woman creating more famine? Why is she bringing more lives she can’t care for into this world? What’s selfless about popping out kid after kid after kid when you couldn’t care for the FIRST one you had! Enough already, STOP SCREWING!

Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons (I still have a 1st edition set with chits in the closet somewhere!) and author of several related novels died today at the age of 69. We’ll miss ya, Gord the Rogue!

I don’t sleep. Some of you know this, some of you don’t. I’ve suffered from horrible insomnia for years now. It’s a wonder I haven’t gone insa… let’s not go there. I don’t normally sleep more than two or three hours at a time then either I’ve soaked through my pillows with sweat or my bladder’s screaming for a trip to the bathroom. Topping off those fun and games I just got a new mattress, a warranty replacement. Around three year of abuse and my old bed was dented and tired. I’m a big guy and hard on the bedding so I usually go for the stiffer mattresses they tend to last a little longer than the nice, soft, pillow-top mattresses. Those rank a 7 - 9 on the ‘Mattress Comfort Scale‘ The one I just got as a replacement is the ‘Kearns’ which as you can see on the above linked page is a foam wrapped brick. So…. if over the next week or so I seem excessively grumpy and growly, forgive me, I’m trying to get used to a new mattress and this old body doesn’t adjust well. Ugh…
