Seis hechos al azar

Well, I’m not normally a bandwagonner but it’s a rare day when someone mentions my blog on their blog so… here I go a hopping!
Six Random Facts:
1) I used to volunteer, a LOT, thousands of hours with the Red Cross. A summer at the Vets Hospital, five years of summer and one winter games with the Special Olympics. Ten years as a scout leader (corrupting your kids!).
2) I haven’t had a ‘real’ haircut in 20+ years and I haven’t even had the ends trimmed in at least 10.
3) Trying to come up with six random facts that you, my few readers, might find vaguely interesting is giving me a headache. (is that cheating?)
4) I have gas so bad I often drive myself out of the room.
5) Five is, for some unknown reason, my favorite number.
6) I think ‘Bridge to Terabithia‘ had one of the saddest endings I’ve ever seen.

What is it with clip shows?

I guess they’re easy to produce, cheap too probably, pick a broad subject and you can make a series out of it. Case in point; ‘The Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest’ which really should be called ‘Out of work has-beens working for snacks’. They show clips of crashes, accidents, stupid criminals (you’ve seen them all before on other, better, clip shows) but here we’ve got out of work losers like Leif Garrett, Tonya Harding and Todd Bridges reading, badly, terrible jokes off cue cards throughout the episode.
Another case in point; I just had the displeasure of sitting through (most of) VH1’s ‘40 Freakiest Concert Moments’ of which they had actual footage of perhaps half. The rest of the show was filled in of other footage and stills of the band(s) in question, HORRIBLE animation done, I’m sure, by community college Computer Arts program drop outs repeated incessantly, the occasional comment from real musicians and even some members of the bands being highlighted and the cadre of out of work losers you’ve never heard of and never will including comics and a group of music Podcast commentators. WOO!

Coke Discriminates!

From an E-mail I received yesterday about double reward points from Coke:
“Double points for Coca-Cola Classic®, Vanilla Coke®, Cherry Coke® and Caffeine Free Coca-Cola Classic® 12-packs will be active on Wednesday, December 17 from 12:01 am ET to 11:59 pm ET.”
Yup, us diabetics can go screw ourselves… or drink sugary soda and just fuck off and die. Either way that’s just horrible discrimination against a large portion of their consumer base, there’s millions of diabetics drinking their Diet Coke line.

And it’s THUNDERING! Thunder, in the middle of December! This is one wild storm. Wind gusts up over 25 MPH, pounding rain and the aforementioned thunder… in DECEMBER!

Spooky…

I was reading the paper Monday (12/08) afternoon when I glanced up and saw a rather lovely young lady walking down the sidewalk towards my house. Being a red blooded, heterosexual male I of course decided to stand up to take a better look (I may be old, I ain’t dead!). I put my cane down on something. I looked to see what happened and to correct it, maybe five seconds in all, and when I looked back up, she was gone. I looked out in front of the house down our street and didn’t see her. I walked across the house and looked down the direction she’d been heading… and didn’t see her. She might have crossed the street right past the end of my driveway (I live on the corner of a T intersection) but there’s nothing there other than a massively overgrown lot. I didn’t see her at me neighbor across the street’s place, they were outside working on their lawn company gear. In a matter of seconds, she disappeared…
